Best breakfast in town. The staff is amazing and the food is fantastic!

When I travel I want to avoid the commercial food establishments. This was a traditional diner that exceeded my expectations. The locals eat here to start the day right. I had the corned beef hash omelette - very tasty and probably took 3 months off my life span!!

My favorite breakfast place in Fairbanks.....food is really good, the staff are really swell, and prices are reasonable. A friendly atmosphere with amazing milkshakes!

The Diner has incredible food, great and attentive staff, and reasonable prices! Plan to wait ~45minutes~ if you come around 10-11am but definitely worth the wait. Always opt-in for the home fries!

Slow service and no apologies for seeing a customer go. Went around noon, the waitress just served coffee and water and didn’t show up to take order for another 15mins. Guess what, they were busy cleaning empty tables the whole while but not take orders from the ones already seated. 🤷‍♂️

Worst service in 22 years, pushing us out when sign says open 6am-8pm and waitress told us grill gets turned off at 6pm, they want people out by 6:30pm. Last time I eat here. They want my hard earned money for their steadily going downhill quality of food while rushing me to eat...last time!

Great food stop in every time I come to Fairbanks

This is a typical diner. We came here on the recommendation from the Visitor's center. We were told that they have a good cod sandwich. We couldn't find it on the menu, but the server knew what we were talking about and said, " oh that's the fish sandwich". The wait was a little longer than I would've liked. However, the sandwich was delicious! The fish itself was beautiful and the breading on it crispy. The bread and veggies were good. The fries were also nice. Not much of a crowd but they had their regulars, who everyone knew by name :) liked it but not so much that I'll come back if I visit Fairbanks again.

Super snappy and delicious breakfast. I think by the time I sat down to my food arriving was like 8 min. Its was very impressive. I had the eggs Benedict not just some pancakes either.

We eat here every weekend and is always consistently great food, service and value

I went here recently, and I can say that I left very disappointed. It took about 15 minutes for us to get something to drink and about 20 minutes for us to be attended to for food after sitting down. This would have been understandable if the restaurant was busy. However, the restaurant was far from busy; it only had about 4 tables filled and maybe two people at the counter. There appeared to be plenty of staff but little service. I will not be returning here again

There is something pleasant about the American Diner. "Greasy Spoons" always transport me back to my childhood in a way few other dining options do. "The Diner" falls solidly into this category. The general ambiance is clean simple booth and table dining with a counter full of regulars discussing right wing politics while right wing news plays in the background. The fare is short order burgers and breakfasts with bottomless coffee cups cooked to customer specifications in a quick manner. The food is delicious comfort food served by friendly wait staff. If American comfort food is what you're looking for you won't be disappointed.

So we use an app called AK speedy Eats we ordered breakfast and had it delivered. When the order arrived there was food that was added on which end up costing more then also the added on food was missingIn other words we were charged extra for food that we did not receive

Either they are very understaffed or purposely didn't served us in time, we waited 30 minutes and yet no one came to pick our order, there was a waitress who just kept on cleaning tables even though there were smoke of empty tables. needless to say we just paid for our coffee and left.

We had breakfast yesterday at the Diner on Illinois, next to Garden Island Liquor. Unfortunately, our meals were sub-par. When we went to check out, I mentioned to the waitress at the register that our hash browns were soggy, and with a shrug of her shoulders she said simply “ok” so I said “that doesn't even concern you a little does it?” And she said “can't get them all correct” and dismissed it. There was NO customer service involved in this transaction at all. We left, not only disgusted with our meal, but completely turned off of the entire experience. It is a shame that customer service is going by the wayside. We do have a choice as to where to spend our hard earned money, and I can tell you the Diner will not be among our choices in the future.

Went yesterday, have been before but not for awhile. The food was scant and not very good. My 10 yr old ordered off of the kids menu, and the burger was tiny. They should really put a note that portions are suitable for kids under 5. My sandwich was disappointing, canned mushrooms and cheap sliced bread. The coleslaw was old and warm. My husband's burger was missing what he had ordered. Empty water glasses not filled. We hardly ever eat out, so when we do and it's this disappointing it really stinks.

Always a great place to eat when you don't know what to have, good deals and great meals. Good mix and easy to find.

Good food and reasonable prices. Atmosphere was okay. Interior could use a little bit of upgrade. Staff was nice.

Food was decent. Good value. That is lost to the blaring rightwing wacho conspiracy shows on the tv. Made me want to vomit.

I always have good service there, the food is great, the entire staff is friendly and helpful. I feel at home when I am there. I would recommend it to anyone. And the prices are reasoenable. Pies are fresh Soup is fresh. Stop by and check it out your self. Even the customers make you feel like your a part of a community.

Staff is VERY friendly! Awesome waitresses! VERY quick getting to table. Food is DELICIOUS and plentiful, no walking out of here hungry! Food is quickly delivered within 10 minutes of ordering! Enjoy the diner VERY much!

Their claim chowder and sourdough burger was perfect when it was -30F. Delicious, warm, and filling. The buns were really soft and tasty.

Classic diner. Good coffee in diner mugs . Excellent crispy bacon. If you’re looking for trendy this isn’t it, but it is excellent if you’re looking for classic diner food. And a place to sit and enjoy the capper with a cup of joe.

This place is a time warp. Old time feel, outstanding service! Great place for breakfast & lunch.

The food was pretty good. Our waitress seemed perturbed though. Being our first time in Alaska we wanted to try someplace that wasn't touristy. No jewelry shops here!There was also this weird thing parked out front when we arrived. I really don't know if it's an actual warning of some kind or a joke.

Cute place, decent prices. Food was ok. My mom and I ordered the wraps, which are new on the menu. We agreed that they tasted good but they were very poorly wrapped so they totally fell apart and we ended up eating them with fork and knife. But they're new, so many the kitchen staff will get better at wrapping them with a little practice :)

Love this place, but it's a distance away. Parking can be problematic.
